Title*:	Ramsar Gebiete Tirol
Abstract*:	Die Ramsar Konvention ist ein Rahmenprogramm zum Schutz und zur nachhaltigen Nutzung von Feuchtgebieten internationaler Bedeutung. Schutzgebietsausweisungen auf nationaler Ebene sollen durch internationale Kooperation gefördert und unterstützt werden. 1971 wurde in der iranischen Stadt Ramsar am Kaspischen Meer, unter anderem von Deutschland, das Ramsar-Abkommen unterzeichnet. Der WWF und die Weltnaturschutzunion (IUCN) spielten bei der Ausgestaltung der Konvention von Beginn an eine entscheidende Rolle. 1975 konnte das Abkommen in Kraft treten. 1980 fand die erste Mitgliedsstaatenkonferenz in Italien statt. Die Mitgliedsstaaten treffen sich alle drei Jahre. Inzwischen haben 133 Staaten das Abkommen unterzeichnet. Die meisten durch das Ramsar-Abkommen geschützten Feuchtgebiete hat Großbritannien ausgewiesen. Deutschland steht mit 31 Gebieten auf Platz 11. Das größte der Ramsar-Gebiete ist das Delta-Gebiet des mächtigen Flusses Okawango in Botswana mit über 6,8 Millionen Hektar - einer Fläche von der Größe Bayerns. Die kleinsten Ramsar-Gebiete hingegen haben nur eine Größe von einem Hektar - wie zum Beispiel die Hosnie´s Quelle auf Christmas Island in Australien. 1229 Feuchtgebiete weltweit unterstehen derzeit dem Schutz des Ramsar-Abkommens. Zusammen erreichen sie eine Fläche von etwa 106 Millionen Hektar, das entspricht der Größe Portugals. Die RAMSAR Gebiete sind dem INSPIRE Datenthema Schutzgebiete (Annex I) zugeordnet.
